Transcripts: Coursework Attempted During High School
Many students attempt college-level courses while still
in high school. These primarily fall into the two following categories:
Advanced Placement (AP) Courses/Exams
Unless credit has been granted by a U.S. or Canadian
institution for an AP prep course or AP exam, such information should not be
listed on the application as a college attended. If credit has been granted,
do not send high school transcripts or AP test scores to SMDEP.
Other Courses
Many high school students take other types of college-level
courses, either independently or through special programs offered by their high
school. Courses may be physically attended at the high school or at a college,
depending on the program, but should be listed on the application under the
name of the college. You must contact the college involved to determine whether
a transcript is available before completing your SMDEP application.
- If a transcript is available from the college, it
must be forwarded directly to SMDEP and the college must be listed on the
SMDEP application.
- If a transcript is not available from the college,
the college registrar's office must forward an official letter with an SMDEP
Transcript Matching Form attached indicating that no transcript is available
due to institutional policies. Do not send high school transcripts to SMDEP.
