Applying to SMDEP
Letters of Recommendation
You must submit two (2) letters of recommendation; one letter from
either a prehealth advisor and/or your college professor and one
letter must be from your major field of study.
The National Program Office will accept the two (2) letters of
recommendation through the following process:
- Provide each recommender with a copy of the 2013/2014 Recommendation
Letter coming soon. Be sure to complete the Applicant Information
section of the form before giving it to your recommender.
- The SMDEP National Program Office prefers letters of recommendation
faxed to our toll free number, 1-866-304-7637. If faxing is unavailable,
recommendations can be scanned and e-mailed to :
smdepletters@aamc.org.
- Follow up with each recommender to ensure that the letter of
recommendation was sent.
Please Note
If your recommenders choose to submit a letter of recommendation
on school letterhead, please have them attach the first page of
the SMDEP Recommendation Form before faxing. Faxing or sending letters
of recommendation without the first page of the form will delay
forwarding your recommendation to your selected program(s).
If you receive a notice indicating that the SMDEP National Program
Office does not have your letters of recommendation on file, it
is your responsibility to follow up with your references. All letters
of recommendation must be faxed and/or postmarked by Friday,
March 1, 2013.
