Overview
The summer program at Duke University offers talented students the
resources to present strong credentials for admission to medical school.
By providing a solid foundation in the pre-medical sciences, math,
writing, and learning skills, the program prepares its scholars for
success. Instruction in ethics, professionalism, interviewing skills,
clinical experience, and individual advising complete the toolbox. Program
scholars will leave well prepared to complete their undergraduate
education and advance to health-professions education.
Finances

Meals: Breakfast and dinner will be provided in Duke
University's West Campus residence hall dining room; lunch at any
on-campus eatery

Travel Assistance: Up to $300 (based on need and for those
more than 50 miles away from Durham, NC)

Stipend: Disbursed in two installments (week 3 and upon
completion of the program)
Living

Housing: Each student will be housed in a double occupancy,
air-conditioned Duke University residence hall

Health Insurance: Not provided. However, SMDEP Duke will pay
student health center access costs for acute problems (eg., check-ups,
illness, allergy shots, psychological counseling)

Social Activities: Includes the American Dance Festival and
Summer Festival of the Arts
