The SMDEP Web application has functions that depend on your Web browser. We strongly suggest using Internet Explorer 5.01 or above, but our site will also support Netscape 6.0 or above. While other browser types may work with the application, we can't provide support for them. For more information on browsers, refer to the next two questions.

After clicking the "Apply Now" link to access the application, I receive a pop-up window informing me that I must have Internet Explorer 5+ or Netscape 6+. How can I get a higher browser version for my computer?
You will need to upgrade your browser or use a computer that already has a browser version that meets the application requirements. For free upgrades, go to the Microsoft Web site to download Internet Explorer or go to the Netscape Web site to download Netscape. For more information on browsers, refer to technical questions 1 and 3.

How can I tell if I have a sufficient browser version of Internet Explorer or Netscape to successfully complete the web application?
To identify your current version of:
Internet Explorer: View the splash screen that appears when you first open the browser, or go to "About Internet Explorer" in the Help pull-down menu.
Netscape: View the splash screen that appears when you first open the browser, or go to "About Netscape/Communicator/Navigator" in the Help pull-down menu.

I can not view the Transcript Matching Form or Recommendation
Form. Do I need to purchase special software to view and print these
forms?
No. You can get the required software for free! You will need the
latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and complete the Transcript
Matching Form and the Recommendation Form, which are editable PDFs. Download Adobe Acrobat Reader.

The application does not recognize my username and password. What should I do?
The login screen will not allow access to the application unless the username and password are entered exactly as they were entered in the registration page. Applicants encounter problems when they mistakenly enter a space behind the username or password. If you can't identify the correct password, use the "Can't remember your User Name or Password?" option to receive an e-mail with your log-in information. Copy and paste the information into the log-in screen.
